Founding Solutions Engineer
$125k – $160k base
1
Denver, CO
About the Role
As the Founding Solutions Engineer, you will be the technical linchpin connecting our fintech platform to our clients’ needs. In this early hire role, you’ll combine engineering know-how with customer-facing skills to ensure businesses smoothly implement our account-to-account payment API and tools. You will work directly with our customers’ development teams to integrate features like bank account linking, payment initiation, and identity verification into their products. This is a unique opportunity to build the Solutions Engineering function from the ground up, crafting best practices for future team members while having a direct impact on customer success and product adoption.
In a typical week, you might guide a client through integrating our RESTful API into their mobile app, assist in embedding our web-based bank connection widget, or troubleshoot implementation issues in a customer’s sandbox environment. You’ll act as both an educator and problem-solver—conducting technical workshops, creating sample code and demos, and advising on how to optimize use of our platform (for example, how to best leverage our real-time fraud detection or balance check features). Internally, you’ll collaborate with product and engineering teams, relaying customer feedback and helping shape the product roadmap based on real-world use cases.
Thriving in this role requires a startup mentality. You should be ready to tackle a wide range of technical challenges in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment. As the first Solutions Engineer, you’ll also lay the groundwork for a growing team—documenting integration processes, building a knowledge base, and defining how we engage with clients technically. This full-time role is based in Denver, CO (with hybrid/remote work options) and offers a competitive base salary plus equity. It’s ideal for someone who wants to have broad impact, influence product direction, and grow into a leadership position as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Integration Support – Work closely with clients’ developers and IT teams to integrate our fintech platform’s API and widgets into their applications. Provide hands-on assistance with authentication setup, API requests/responses, webhooks, and use of our SDKs or libraries.
Technical Consultation – Serve as the technical expert in customer meetings, calls, and demos. Explain system architecture, security features, and implementation best practices in clear, developer-friendly terms. Tailor solutions to each customer’s tech stack and requirements.
Onboarding & Training – Lead technical onboarding for new enterprise customers, including running workshops or webinars on how to use our platform (from creating customer profiles and connecting bank accounts, to initiating payments and handling responses). Ensure customers’ teams feel confident and self-sufficient in using our product.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving – Diagnose and resolve integration issues or bugs that customers encounter. This could involve debugging API calls, reviewing error logs, or reproducing issues in our test environment. Escalate deep product bugs to the core engineering team and track them to resolution, keeping the client updated.
Build Sample Apps & Tools – Develop sample applications, reference implementations, and integration guides that demonstrate how to use our platform in various languages and frameworks (e.g. building a quick demo in Python or JavaScript to show how to connect an account and initiate a payment). Create technical documentation and snippets to accelerate customer development.
Feedback Loop – Act as the “voice of the customer” by conveying common requests, pain points, and suggestions to the product development team. Advocate for features that would ease integration or improve the developer experience, such as new API endpoints or better documentation.
Pre-Sales Engineering – Partner with the sales and business development team during prospect calls to answer technical questions and design solution approaches for potential clients. Help craft tailored demonstrations or proof-of-concepts that showcase how our fintech solution can fit into a prospect’s architecture.
Process & Team Development – Establish best practices for the Solutions Engineering function (ticket triage, integration timelines, success metrics). As a founding team member, create documentation and templates that will be used to train and onboard future solutions engineers. Potentially assist in hiring and mentoring new technical solutions team members as we grow.
Required Qualifications
Technical Background – 4+ years in a software engineering or solutions engineering role. Strong coding skills in at least one modern language (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or C#) and ability to read and understand others’ code. Comfortable working with APIs, SDKs, and developer tools.
Customer-Facing Experience – Excellent communication skills with a track record of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience in a client-facing role such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Implementation Engineer, or similar is highly desired.
API and Web Technologies – Proficiency with RESTful API integration, including knowledge of JSON, HTTP status codes, and authentication methods (e.g. API keys, OAuth). Able to debug network requests and use tools like Postman effectively. Familiarity with web integration concepts (embedding iframes/scripts, handling front-end events) for our no-code widget.
Problem-Solving Skills – Creative and tenacious in diagnosing problems. Able to troubleshoot issues across different technology stacks (mobile, web, backend) and find workarounds or solutions in real time.
Domain Knowledge – General understanding of fintech concepts such as payment processing, bank integrations, and identity verification. While you will learn specifics on the job, you should be conversant in terms like ACH, KYC, OAuth bank connections, etc., or demonstrate the ability to ramp up quickly.
Self-Starter – Ability to operate independently and efficiently in an unstructured startup environment. You take ownership of customer success and do what it takes (within reason) to ensure integrations are successful.
Collaboration – Strong team player who can work cross-functionally. Willing to collaborate with sales, product, engineering, and support teams internally. Comfortable juggling multiple client projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Fintech Integration Experience – Prior experience integrating payment gateways, banking APIs, or financial services software for clients. Familiarity with open banking platforms (Plaid, Finicity, MX etc.) or having worked with payments (ACH, wire, RTP) is a strong plus.
Full-Stack Acumen – Knowledge of front-end web development (HTML/CSS, React or other frameworks) andbackend systems. This helps in understanding client issues whether they occur in the UI or server side.
Cloud & DevOps – Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related tech (Docker, serverless functions, CI/CD pipelines) as it pertains to deploying our solution or assisting clients with environment setup.
Technical Writing – Proven ability to create clear technical documentation, tutorials, or blog posts. If you’ve written developer guides or API documentation before, it’s a plus.
Startup Experience – Experience as an early employee or founding team member in a B2B software company, showing that you can thrive with limited resources and lots of ambiguity.
Leadership Potential – Interest in growing into a leadership role as the solutions engineering team expands. Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading integration projects end-to-end would support this path.

Pragmatic execution — we balance long-term scalability with immediate business impact
Collaborative mindset — we think out loud, share context, and make each other better
We are building systems that directly impact real financial outcomes. That responsibility demands high standards, strong judgment, and a bias toward action.
